Dundee Pale Bock Lager

Dundee Pale Bock LagerNote: Enjoyed on February 28, 2009.

I wasn’t aware that some friends had left me a Bock Lager, so I was happy when I opened up the fridge tonight and found it in there. There doesn’t appear to be a ton of bocks floating around your local liquor store, so cracking into one is a rarity. The only bock I can recall having is a Michelob variety, which I found tasty.

The Dundee Pale Bock Lager was just so-so for me. I found that the “Big and Malty” claim on the label only became true after I was 1/2 the way through the bottle. For the first half of the bottle, I was getting somewhat bitter hoppiness.

All that said, I wasn’t opposed to this one. I was enjoying it more and more as the bottle dwindled. It became smoother and smoother as my pallet adjusted. I’m wondering if I would like it even more if I had another bottle to follow it up with…
