Uerige Sticke – A Rare Treat

Uerige Sticke
I’ve never had a Sticke, and I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re in the same boat. Very few breweries make Sticke, and those that do, make limited quantities.

Uerige Sticke is no exception, and is only made twice a year: on the third Tuesday in January and October. The bottle I picked up was from their October 08 batch. When I was buying it, I honestly got a little giddy!

The flavor didn’t let me down, and my two guest tasters (Sean & Kerry) enjoyed it as well. Ambery deliciousness, which pours with a nice head. It is definitely most comparable to a brown ale, however, the three of us could not come up with a comparable beer. Our best guess was Newcastle, but none of us had enjoyed a Newcastle recently enough to have an appropriate frame of reference.

Below is a link to the brewery website if you’re interested. Note that the website says that the Sticke is 6.5% ABV, however, the bottle I have stated it as 6%.

If you have the opportunity to pick up some Uerige Sticke, absolutely go for it. Don’t miss your chance, as it won’t come around again for months!
