Frosty Knuckle Ale

Frosty Knuckle Ale
Tonight’s beverage of choice is a Frosty Knuckle Ale straight from the Mercury Brewing company in Ipswich, MA. My brother-in-law brought this over for me to try tonight as we watch the Bruins knock Montreal out of the playoffs. I’m always down for a local brew, and even better…a FREE local beer!

The Frosty Knuckle is a light beer. 5% ABV, although it goes down more like 4% or less. Nothing fancy with this beer. Comparable to many light beers out there.

Orange/golden amber color. Very little head. What head there was, settled pretty quick. Still a fair amount of carbonation on the tongue. Typical light beer taste. Kinda dry on the finish.

Overall, I’d give this one a C+. It’s a decent beer, but ultimately a light beer clone. Great if you want to pound-away some brews with your buddies, and you want to support a micro-brewer rather than a giant conglomerate.

  1. I think your standards are too high when it comes to light beer.
    My criteria:
Does it taste remotely like beer?
if yes, then you’re good to go.
    if no, then proceed to…
Is it gonna get me sick?
if yes, then stop the train, I wanna get
if no, then you’re good to go.

But that’s just me. And I’m a dummy.

  2. This si not a light beer, for that go to Edison!
Also, this ber is brewed by Frosty Knuckle @ the Ipswich Brewery. NOT to be confused with Mercury, anyone who knows there Enduance Ale would be confused by this!

  3. Dave:

I just pulled my last Frosty Knuckle Ale, and it clearly states on the bottle “Brewed under license by Mercury Brewing Company.”
