Kilt Tilter Scotch Style Ale

Kilt Tilter Scotch Style Ale
Tonight’s beverage of choice was selected (and purchased!) by two friends of mine. Yay for free beer! They picked up Kilt Tilter Scotch Style Ale for me; the interesting name and a 20% discount on the 1pt 6oz bottle were behind the purchase.

This 9% ABV beer is brewed out of Syracuse, NY by the Middle Ages Brewing Co.

The pour was deep and dark. About 2.5 inches of head formed, and VERY quickly reduced to just a thin layer. The quick reduction in foam resulted in very little head clinging to the side of the glass. The beer looked darker and thicker than it really was.

The aroma was sweet. I even got hints of wine-like flavor. This smell was only detectable within a few seconds of the pour. Once the head died down, I lost the trail.

The best was to describe the taste is: Guinness Lite. Very similar in flavor to Guinness, but sweeter and lighter. Very drinkable. I love Guinness, but I can’t drink more than one pint in a sitting. The Kilt Tilter went down easy. I definitely could have had another. Recommended!
