Tonight after Holy Saturday Mass, we stopped by a local pub for a bite to eat. Since we were only 2 minutes from home, I decided to partake in some beer drinking. Wachusett Blueberry was on tap. I’ve had it many times before, and have previously enjoyed it.
I ordered a 20oz draft, as I was thoroughly thirsty. It pours a very light golden. Easily mistakable for a Coors Light. There was about 1/4 inch of head.
As for flavor, I should first note that I am a HUGE blueberry fan. I’ve been known to eat an entire pint (sometimes two) in a sitting. When I get the chance, I enjoy going blueberry picking. Wachusett Blueberry gives only a mild blueberry scent, but a great blueberry taste. There is a very slight bitterness to the beer, almost like when you’re eating a pint of blueberries and get a rash of not-quite-ripe pieces of fruit. I can think of other blueberry beers I have tried that are distinctively sweet…typically I enjoy the sweeter beers more, however I definitely wouldn’t throw Wachusett Blueberry out of bed!
Tonight I downed two 20oz drafts of Wachusett Blueberry. Very drinkable. I highly recommend it.
