Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ale

Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ale
The huge fluffy head on this Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ale is slowly dissipating. Delicious-looking lace covers the upper quarter of my glass. The smell is a little spicy, with hops coming through. I can’t wait to dive into it. I’ll upload this picture of the bottle while I wait for the beer to warm up a little.

This is the third Dogfish Head beer that I’ve tried. Prior to this were the Raison D’Etre (phenomenal) and 90-minute IPA (also good).

OK…enough waiting. I’m diving into this bitch.

Taking another whiff now that the beer has warmed, I’m getting deep coffee scents. BLAMO! Coffee in the mouth too. The beer is smooooth. Not a lot of bubbly. Only mildly bitter. I’m thinking that there is also some chocolate in there, which is evening it out. Just a touch of lingering bitterness.

Even though it’s fairly dark and full flavored, the Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ale is only 7.2% ABV.

So the verdict? Not as big of a home-run as the Raison D’Etre, but another quality beer from Dogfish Head; A solid B+/A-.

I’m with you on this… Not quite as good as the Raison D’Etre, but still an interesting dark beer. Not quite an IPA, but not your typical sweet brown either. Dogfish Head beers are definitely my favorite these days- India Brown, Raison D, and Palo Santo Marron are all in my fridge right now.

Will have to grab the Palo Santo Marron on my next shopping trip!
