Harpoon Crystal Wheat

Harpoon Crystal Wheat
It’s absolutely awesome outside. 75 degrees and sunny. Couldn’t ask for a better day to have a party at my house. Happy Memorial Day!

I picked up a Harpoon summer mix-pack, which includes the Crystal Wheat. Never heard of it, let’s give it a try.

Didn’t even look at the label before tasting it. Hell…I didn’t even pour it into a glass! Today is a “straight from the bottle” kinda day. First impression: citrus. Second impression: more specifically, lemon. Now I decided to look at the label; it’s got lemons on it.

Funny coincidence, as the last beer I reviewed was the Leine Summer Shandy. It tasted like lemonade. I hated it.

The Harpoon is much less lemony, and is thus 100 times more delicious. It’s more like a beerized lemon tea than lemonade. I can’t say that I’d run out and buy a six-pack, but I also wouldn’t turn one down should it be offered to me. I’ll certainly drink all of the ones that came in this mix-pack (if my guests don’t finish them off)!

On a final note, while I rarely recommend pouring a beer out, on this Memorial Day I urge you all to “pour one out” for all those who gave their lives to protect freedom. Freedom isn’t free!
