Michelob Dunkel Weisse

Michelob Dunkel Weisse
Someone recommended that I try the Michelob Dunkel Weisse, so I picked up a single 12 oz bottle. It had been sitting in the fridge for a few weeks, and I didn’t want to neglect it. Tonight is a perfect night for it…I just finished 4 hours of homework.

This beer is bananas. B.A.N.A.N.A.S! Sweet and slightly bananas to be precise. At least that’s what it smells like! The Michelob website says I should smell cloves too, but my dumb-ass nose doesn’t know what a clove smells like! On a related note, I think I once smoked a clove in college…

Surprisingly, the banana flavor is no where near as strong as the nana-roma (that’s a new word for something that smells like banana…rolls off the tongue eh?). Banana flavor can easily be overwhelming; Michelob did a good job balancing the banana here. Despite also having hints of chocolate, the Dunkel Weisse is not too sweet, although I’m a bad person to judge as I love sweet beers. No noticeable hop-kick. High marks in my book for uniqueness.

The brew isn’t heavy or boozy (5.5% ABV).

Recommendation: If you’re cool with bananas buy some and give it a shot.

Oh, and before I forget, Michelob just joined up on Twitter and seems to be pretty active. Give them a looky.
