Newport Storm Rhode Island Blueberry

Newport Storm Rhode Island Blueberry
So I thought I was all out of my stock of Newport Storm brews. Surprise, surprise, I opened the fridge tonight and found their Rhode Island Blueberry. It definitely speaks to how full of beer my fridge is. Speaking of which, it just got a lot worse. My mother brought me home a bunch of micro-brews from North Carolina (she recently visited).

My frame of reference for blueberry beers are mainly Wachusett (light and bitter) and Seadog (less light and sweet). This Newport Storm Blueberry is a nifty cross between the two.

It is more bitter than sweet. As it warms, the bitterness does fade and more sweetness appears, however it’s nowhere near as sweet as Seadog. Although it is only 4.5% ABV, it doesn’t taste like a light beer.

In my last review, I voted the Amber Ale my favorite of the Newport Storm series. I’m updating my statement to say that it’s a tie between the Amber Ale and the Rhode Island Blueberry.
