Avery White Rascal

Avery White Rascal
I figured that drinking another Belgian White would be a good way to follow-up on yesterday’s review of Flying Dog Woody Creek White. Thus, I have a pint glass full of Avery White Rascal.

Avery Brewery is in Bolder Colorado. They have a decent website if you want to check it out.

The beer poured with minimal head and virtually no lace. Quite different from the Woody Creek’s foam-dome. The color is a light yellow. It’s only slightly cloudy, you might not guess that it’s unfiltered just from looking at it. It’s got a bready/yeasty smell.

The taste is mild for a Belgian. Even more mild than the Woody Creek. Similar tastes (bready/yeasty/citrus). Quite drinkable actually. I’m surprised that it is 5.6% ABV…seems lighter than that.

I am a huge fan of the Woody Creek. Comparably, the White Rascal is different, yet delicious in its own right. In particular, I like the idea of a thoroughly drinkable Belgian white. This is my first Avery beer, and I’ll definitely be trying more.
