Cottonwood Irish Style Red Ale

Cottonwood Irish Style Red Ale
Today we celebrated the first day of our vacation by spending the day in Quechee, Vermont. Tonight we’re sitting down to watch that Mall Cop movie. I’m starving and due to the lack of food in the house, I’m drinking another beer from North Carolina: Cottonwood Irish Style Red Ale.

I mis-poured the thing, and ended up with a ton of head. No biggie, as it looked pretty tasty.

This red ale is pretty unique actually. Still trying to figure out the flavors.

The mouth-feel is excellent. Surprisingly smooth. Lots of carbonation. Highly drinkable at 5.2% ABV.

It took drinking half the beer, but I think I figured out what I was tasting: grapes. I wouldn’t call the beer fruity by any means. Malty with that hint of grape lends to a terrific flavor.

  1. Live down here in NC… Very good beer in all the grocery stores. Nice red… smooth, balanced, and drinkable.
