Dogfish Head Festina Peche

Dogfish Head Festina Peche
6 days later, my cold has finally dissipated. I can smell again, as made evident by the stench coming from the cat box. YuMmY! I should say that my cold moved on…to my wife. Aren’t I a nice husband for sharing? In any event, at long last I can do a beer review. In hind-sight, I shouldn’t have done the one review I did this week, as it was wasted.

What a better way to get back into the swing of things than with another unique offering from Dogfish Head: Festina Peche. This one is supposed to taste like peaches! Peaches and beer…who wouldda thought?

Take care in pouring this one. TONS of head if you’re not careful. Should you screw up and end up with 4 inches of head, don’t worry as it fizzles away quickly.

The beer’s color is incredibly light yellow. Probably one of the lightest yellows I have seen. Not watery looking mind you. It’s hazy and opaque (I hear that “opaque’ that means you can’t see through it; Hurray for big words!).

Upon my first step, I actually had a face-convulsion. It happens when I taste a beer that is so different that my tongue and face doesn’t know what to do. I immediate had to turn to my wife and say “TRY THIS”. I had to explain that the beer tastes nothing like beer before she took a sip. she agreed…nothing like beer. It’s more like a carbonated juice. It’s got the consistency of Orangina, and almost as much carbonation. Sweet, sweet, sweet. I actually don’t pick up the peach all that much. Tastes more citrusy to me.

I can see why it was so light: It’s only 4.5% ABV. This stuff goes down very quick.

Given that this is nothing like any beer I’ve ever had, Dogfish gets props. For me, this isn’t an everyday kinda beer. I could see having it once in awhile, maybe with breakfast even.
