Left Hand Oktoberfest Marzen

Left Hand Oktoberfest MarzenWith the hub-bub of Monster vs the craft brewing world losing steam, it looks like it is time to get back to reviews. October is winding down, so I better drink this Left Hand Oktoberfest (Marzen style beer); you do know that it is illegal to drink an Oktoberfest in any other month, with the exception of March of course…

Left Hand’s Oktoberfest poured with basically no head, even despite my attempts to get it to foam up. The smell was pretty limited too. Smelled malty sweet if anything.

Once the brew hit my tongue, my first impression was that it was smooth and creamy. Way more so than I expected. The flavor is mildly sweet, but quickly turns bitter. Pine dominates the flavor. Not really my cup of tea, but lucky for me the bitterness and pine flavor mellowed out as the stuff warmed up.
