Kellerweis is one of the few American made hefeweizens that is actually as good as the Bavarian/Bohemian beers, such as Primator from the Czech Republic or Schneider Weisse. With a style like hefeweizen, I am convinced that authenticity in ingredients and brewing methods is vital making something that stands out.

Granted it was very minor and I could not put a name or taste to it so I failed to jot that down. Silvo helped to put a name to the taste...thanks! Have you tried any Hefes by Weihenstephaner?

I have to admit, when I read that Silvo tasted nutmeg I was surprised and skeptical. Thanks to Tom for piping in and confirming!

-Lost

Silvio,
Thanks for the review. I had one of these right after mowing the lawn last summer and it was perfect. I'm not a big Hefe fan, but Sierra Nevada did well by this brew. I appreciated your observation about a smokey nutmeg aftertaste...did pick up on that last time. Now when I try it next time I'll look for that.
Cheers!
