Cisco Whale’s Tale Pale Ale

Brady the Hound Doggy!I realized this evening that I hadn’t provided an update on our sick dog. As you may recall, he had some really bad dizzy spells 3-4 weeks ago. Things were not looking good. The doc said that unless it was an inner-ear infection (treatable by antibiotics), we’d be relegated to seeing a neurologist. Well, Brady has been on the drugs for almost a month and things have completely cleared up. Thank God!

Tonight we made some delicious roasted eggplant and shallot pizza. We’ve followed that up with a couple of romantic comedy movies. I dropped a couple of bottles of Affligem Blond a bit earlier. Great stuff.

I figured I better get my shit together and review a beer. I’m picking up this bottle of Cisco Whale’s Tale Pale Ale.

The beer has a smooth aspect, but at the same time has just the right amount of carbonation. It’s a good pale ale. Pretty close to what I look for in the style. It’s more on the sweet side, but still presents a hoppy flavor in the aftertaste. Hardly identifiable, but probably more floral than piney. The sweetness is citrusy – orangish.

The aroma is the other notable feature. Smells quite fruity. I almost wanted to say apricot, but I thought twice about it. The 5.6ABV makes this 1pt 6oz bottle quite drinkable.

It’s not making me jump up and down, but it’s a very solid brew.
