While watching the movie, the wife and I polished off a bottle of champagne (courtesy our friends Steve & Heather who gifted it for Melissa’s 30th).
I wasn’t going to do a beer review tonight, but I cowboyed-up. So let’s do this thing.
The beer of choice is Leinekugels Classic Amber, which is left over from Saturday’s bday party. I’m sure I had a bottle or two on Saturday – I was off duty and not taking notes.
I will give this to Leine – when they say classic amber, they nailed the color perfectly. You can’t describe the hue any better than classic amber.
Otherwise, the beer is unremarkable. Good, yes. Unique, no. I’m a huge fan of Leinekugel, and this beer doesn’t disappoint in comparison to other Leine brews. Highly drinkable.
In terms of flavor, it starts off malty but quickly fades to bitterness. No worries…the bitter isn’t crazy powerful. It reminds me just a tad of the bite you get from a red ale.
Again, this beer isn’t going to knock anyone’s socks off, but it is another solid offering from Leine.
