Southern Tier Harvest Ale

Southern Tier Harvest AleI spent the week with a cold. My wife makes fun of me because I catch every cold that comes around…a weak immune system – pretty funny, eh?

Today was a better Friday than ones in recent memory. Work wasn’t as stressful as usual, and I’m still taking Friday afternoons off. Spent my afternoon sleeping, playing my new-to-me video game Uncharted 2, and watching Predator. Regarding Predator, I have now set a personal goal to use the line “I don’t have time to bleed” on a more frequent basis. Now to find a way to randomly bleed…

Due to being sick, I wasn’t able to review any beers. I’ve made that mistake in the past. I’m still at only 80%, but I can breath through one nostril, so I figure I’m good to go.

The beer of choice is Southern Tier Harvest Ale, which I picked up last week.

I believe this beer is technically an ESB. I don’t have a ton of experience with the style. Frankly, the beer reminds me of an IPA. Smells and tastes like a sweet grapefruit / bitter orange peel. Finishes piney.

Not sure what Southern Tier was going for in this beer. Harvest Ale made me think the normal things you get with a fall seasonal. Maybe a little fest-beer taste or some spiciness possibly. I’m really getting none of that.

Despite being a HUGE Southern Tier fan, this Harvest Ale just isn’t doing it for me.

Drinkable? Yeah.
Tasty? Kinda sorta.
Unique/Interesting/Memorable? Not in the least.
