Belhaven Scottish Ale

Belhaven Scottish Ale

First off, many thanks to those of you who sent well wishes for my wife this week (she broke her right elbow). It’s been an interesting week. I’ve learned how to apply makeup, how to brush hair, and how NOT to put in a pony tail.

Today was a superior day. Relatively non-stressful day at work. Afternoon off. Beat Uncharted 2 on the PS3. Beat it in 8 days. Watched “Superhero Movie” and laughed my ass off. And now….A BEER!

Belhaven Scottish Ale

Beer of the evening is Belhaven Scottish Ale. Not to be confused with the other Belhaven Scottish beer I had, Wee Heavy.

Upon reviewing my notes for the Wee Heavy, I see that I picked up dark fruit flavors. I’m getting similar flavors in the Scottish Ale. I wonder what the difference is between the two beers. Scottish Ales from the same brewing company. If I were tasting them side by side, I’m sure I’d be able to figure out the difference.

The beer tonight is relatively mild. Dark fruit, yes. Overkill on dark fruit, no. I can’t quite place the flavor exactly…plum? no. Raisin? Maybe. Grape? notta. Cherry? Definitely no.

Whatevs. I’m not worried about figuring it out. Gonna just sit back and enjoy the brew. I definitely liked the Wee Heavy more and would pick up another bottle of that before buying a bottle of this Scottish Ale.

  1. I’m a fan of Belhaven. Their one of the bigger world wide brands that does a damn good job with their beers and hasn’t gone wrong yet. Perhaps not the greatest rendition of those styles, but still all really damn good.

Try their Thistle IPA…it would be perfect for you since English IPA’s are far more mellowed out than American IPA’s.
