Boulder Beer Killer Penguin

Boulder Beer Killer Penguin

After a long day at work I need a solid beer to get my evening started. During my last beer run I found some of this Killer Penguin from Boulder Brewing. The label and wax is what caught my eye at the liquor store. Pretty cool looking bottle in general.

The beer is a barleywine. Being very familiar with the style, I knew I would want to let the beer warm up. I poured it and waited almost a half hour before giving it a sip.

This beer is SO hitting the spot. It could be the fact that it was a long day at work, or the fact that I already know I’m looking at an 11 hour day at work tomorrow. It also could be that this is just a darned good beer. Whatever the reason, I’m digging it.

This Penguin is super malty – a caramel monster! Maybe a hint of dark fruit (raisin) hiding in there somewhere. A little syrupy, but I would expect that from a 10% ABV malt-infused brew.

I’m going to enjoy finishing off this bottle!
