Huyghe Delirium Noel

Huyghe Delirium Noel

Tonight I’m sitting down with a bottle of Delirium Noel and watching MacGruber. Yes, MacGruber. It’s terrifically awful.

I’ve been reading plenty of reviews for this beer over this holiday season and I’m stoked to give it a go.

It’s a reddish color, quite similar to a red ale (at least in looks). Very little head – almost flat. Love the Delirium bottles. Only second to the Double Dead Guy bottle.

The Noel is sweet at first and finishes tart. Reminds me a bit of an unripe apple. Throw in some caramel flavors, and you sorta have a tart caramel apple.

The one thing I’m taking issue with is the lack of carbonation. Something is missing here and it disturbs me.

Overall, this brew was a bit of a letdown. I’m just not digging anything about it. Maybe it will grow on me as I finish this GIANT bottle all by myself…

  1. Sounds like you might have gotten a bad bottle. It should not have a lack of carbonation from what I remember (though not over carbonated either). And I don’t remember it being tart or apple-y either.

Give it another shot (I am pretty sure you can buy it in smaller bottles if you don’t want to buy the big one).

I guess we can’t agree ALL the time. Maybe I just don’t like a beer that lots of other people love.

Then again, maybe I got a bad bottle of this stuff and it truly is an excellent beer.

      We may never know!

      1. As a lover of winter beers, you should revisit this one soon. I’d suggest seeking out another bottle from a different liquor store (probably look for the smaller bottle). If you don’t do that before the tweetup and I go to the tweetup, I’ll bring you one if I can get some down here.

I remember really liking it and what you tasted isn’t how it’s supposed to taste.
