St. Bernardus Christmas Ale

St. Bernardus Christmas Ale

Tonight I’m chilling out watching the Bruins CRUSH the opposition. Tonight is a complete 180 from last night. They were playing awful last night; I was so pissy I turned the game off. I was lucky to have turned the TV back on in time to see them redeem themselves with a major comeback win, scoring 4 goals in an incredible 3 minutes and 15 seconds.

Wish I was at the game tonight…5-0 Bruins and the crowd is going bonkers!!

Home is good too. Tomorrow we’re getting smashed by 12-16 inches of snow and I don’t have to go to work. Life is good. Time to crack a beer….St. Bernardus Christmas Ale!

St. Bernardus Christmas Ale

This puppy is a Belgian strong ale and it tastes it. Belgian spicy, not to be confused with winter-warmer spicy. Clove/banana in this beer versus nutmeg/cinnamon in winter warmers. I’m picking up a hint of fruit somewhere in there too…intriguing!

Last night me and the Penguin basically got wrecked. Tonight could be headed down the same route…this Christmas Ale is another GIANT, very drinkable, 10% ABV beer…just like the Penguin.

As I think about it, I don’t think I’ve had a Belgian in FOREVER. This is a welcome re-introduction.

While it doesn’t bring anything unique to the table, St. Bernardus Christmas Ale is a very good Belgian and a good beer. If you can still find it on the shelves, give it a go!
