This week is CRAZY busy for me. Class Monday and Wednesday night. Redsox game on Tuesday evening. Going to a book signing on Thursday night and a birthday bash Friday night. On top of all that, I’m ending the week with a Saturday afternoon over at Nashoba Valley winery – the head brewer and I are meeting, doing a private tour, and trying some beers. Yikes – a crazy week indeed!
Figuring I would have zero time to do reviews this week, I’m stocking up. Hold onto your flux capacitors, because I’m writing this to you from the past (Sunday evening). Earlier today I was feeling summery and tried the Magic Hat Wacko. I was not impressed. Going to keep the summer theme rolling with an Otter Creek summer beer. Unintentionally I’m also keeping another theme – Vermont breweries.
The style of this Otter Creek summer seasonal is a pale wheat. I concur with the pale part…the beer has a light hopiness to it. On the wheat front, I really don’t get the flavors of wheat coming through. I take that back, the brew smells a little like wheat. There is a citrus sweetness to the beer; I would classify it as lemon. The citrus flavors start to get overwhelming as the beer warms up, so it’s best (in my opinion) to drink this one stone cold.
A good summer offering from Otter Creek, however not my favorite summer beer out there.
