Tonight I’m nearly back to full capacity; the week-long cold is winding down. I’m SO glad it’s Friday. Goodbye long crappy week. I’m doing some pre-gaming tonight (Bruins game is on later) with a birthday gift I’m finally getting around to drinking. Many thanks to whoever got me this.
Dieu du Ciel Aphrodite is a bad-ass sounding beer. Brewed with real cacao and vanilla beans…YES PLEASE!
Roasted malt aroma, but the flavor has so much more in store. Chocolatey? Yup. Vanilla-ey? Yup! Roasted boldness? Yup! Although it’s only 6.5% ABV, I’m picking up the alcohol flavor too.
Long, long bitter aftertaste.
My only complaint – a bit too much on the brutal roasted bitterness side. Otherwise, a darkly delicious beverage.

Next week we will start receiving some beers from this brewery. This one isn’t on the initial list, as far as I can tell, but I’m pretty excited to grab a Peche Mortel first thing.
Rob:
I’ve never heard of the peach beer. I bet it’s delicious though!

It’s not a peach beer, but French for “Mortal Sin”.
Peche (imagine little accents over both e’s) Mortel is an imperial coffee stout and it’s definitely a wicked brew. Dark & rich with an impressive coffee nose and lots of roasty, toasty bitterness.
And at 9% alcohol, they will not serve it in a pint glass.
Yeah, sorry not to jump in, Lost. Same letters on peche for peach but different accents meaning sin. Really nice beer!
I had this when I was down in NOLA and thought it was great. Although, it was far from the first beer I had that day.
