Uinta Seventeenth Anniversary Barleywine Ale

Unita Seventeenth Anniversay Barleywine Ale

While I was down for the count last week I didn’t drink a beer for 6 straight days. Now to the average guy on the street, that would sound like someone in A.A. says. When healthy, I rarely go more than 2 days without reviewing a beer and 6 days without reviewing a beer hasn’t happened since I started the blog in the spring of 2009. Needless to say, I was feeling quite rusty when I popped open a bottle of Uinta Seventeenth Anniversay Barleywine Ale this past Saturday night.

I picked one heck of a beer to get back on track with. This bad-boy is 10.4% ABV and is big and bold. There is a caramel sweetness to the beer, but that’s nothing in comparison to the giant hop action going on. Citrus and floral hops are dominant and spank the pallet right through a long-ass aftertaste. Sometimes a beer like this will sweeten up as it warms – not in this case.

If you like your barleywines on the bitter side rather than the syrupy side, this brew is for you!
