Jolly Pumpkin Luciernaga The Firefly

Work has been ridiculously stressful. I’m really burning myself out. Today I went in, made a presentation I was scheduled to give, and then walked out the door. Got a nail removed from a tire in the car, and then spent half the afternoon painting the calipers on the car. It was really relaxing and took my mind of work for a few hours.

What do you do to reduce stress after work?

Tonight the Patriots are playing their second pre-season game. I’m psyched to watch the game. T-minus 30 minutes until kick-off. I’m pre-gaming with this Jolly Pumpkin Luciernaga (The Firefly).

This beer is from Jolly Pumpkin brewery. If you haven’t had anything from this brewery, beware…all they make is sours. The last beer I had from them, the La Roja, was ridiculously good.

This Luciernaga is a Belgian pale ale. For me, the mix of hops and funk (sour) aren’t doing the job. The tartness absolutely over powers the hops. The beer also has Grains of Paradise in it, which should give some spicy/peppery qualities to the beer. I’m not picking up any of that either.

Unfortunately, this is the first Jolly Pumpkin brew that I’ve had that didn’t wow me. It’s not a bad beer, but it’s not particularly good either. At least not for me….
