Opa Opa Saison

On Saturday night I had Brandon and Norm over for beers and to watch the UFC fights. The fights started at 9:00pm, so we got things started at 7:00 with some pre-game beer action. There was A LOT of beer. To be precise: three 1/2 gallon growlers, a bomber, and a 4 pack. We killed the bomber, 1 of the 4 12 oz bottles, and 2.75 growlers. I would have pictures up, but they were too raunchy to show. OK, that’s a lie…I was lazy and didn’t take pictures.

One of the beers we enjoyed was a Julio’s Liquors/Opa Opa Brewery collaboration – Opa Opa Saison. This sucker was freaking delicious and equally dangerous; drinkable and 8.5% ABV make for a scary combo. It’s uber spicy with a ton of earthy/fruity sweetness behind it. The label says it has “medium bitterness”, but that’s absolute crap.

Apologies to many of my readers, as you’ll only find this beer at Julio’s. Those of you in the Metrowest, MA area should hit up Julio’s growler cooler ASAP if you’re interested…supplies are waning as the summer disappears.
