Last week my Playstation 3 died on me. 2nd time in 3 years, total ass-crap. The first time the Bluray drive died was 11 months into my warranty, so I was able to get it repaired free of charge. Of course, you have to send your PS3 back to Sony and you don’t get it back for at least 3 weeks. This time the Bluray drive broke AGAIN. Out of warranty, Sony charges $150 for the repair. F that.
I bought a $30 part online and fixed it myself. I performed the fix last night. It took a little time, but wasn’t as complex as the repair I did on my 40″ Samsung LCD TV almost exactly one year ago.
I had a bit of a scary moment when after replacing the Bluray drive and putting the thing back together it didn’t work. I pulled it all back apart and realized I missed re-connecting a cable. 15 minutes later…SUCCESS! I AM A GOLDEN GOD!!!!
Tonight I’m chilling out after work catching up on Storm Chasers and Ice Road Truckers on DVR. This Samuel Adams Harvest Pumpkin is keeping me company. I picked up a six pack of this stuff this past weekend even though at the time I had never tried it before. I guess I trust Sammy that much.
It’s a good pumpkin, although not quite as good as the CBC Great Pumpkin Ale I’ve been raving about this fall. If you like your pumpkin ales incredibly spicy, this is the beer for you. Cinnamon and nutmeg up the wazoo. There’s a bitter twist, so the beer doesn’t come off tasting like a pumpkin pie.
Overall I was happy I bought the six pack. Between Saturday night and today (Tuesday) I polished them all off. I won’t buy it again this fall unless I happen to be at a bar that doesn’t have other options I’m interested in.
