Ommegang Adoration

When I talk to people about the blog, I always tell them that my posts start with a little tid-bit about my day and that I frequently will embarrass myself in the process. Today’s tid-bit is no exception.

Yesterday morning we got up to run and it was 25 degrees out. Needless to say, we hit the gym rather than running outside. Luckily both treadmills were free and we both hopped on. About 5 minutes into my run, my earphone bud kept falling out. All while running, I started to fiddle with the cord, which lead to my cell phone crashing to the floor. Pissed at the whole situation, I jumped off the treadmill without turning it off. I angrily picked up the pieces of my cell phone and threw them to the side. I then do the dumbest thing ever…

I blindly jumped back up onto the treadmill; the belt was still running at ~8 MPH. I don’t recommend this tactic.

SLAM! I go down. The 2 other people nearby looked at me like I’m an idiot. Perfect. I banged the shit out of my shin and began bleeding all over the place. The belt had caught my shin and torn most of the skin off in about a 4 inch strip. Awesome.

I got up, even angrier than before, and proceeded to finish my 2.5 mile run – all while bleeding.

If we measure goodness of a day by the number of close brushes with death, today is going WAY better than yesterday. I have the day off work, played 5 hours of video games this morning, and now I’m partaking in some day drinking!

Ommegang Adoration is the beverage of choice. 10% ABV at 12:30pm…WOOT!

This stuff is absolutely terrific. It’s Belgiany deliciousness through and through. Smells like spicy bananas and tastes like cloves and spices with a dash of citrus. It’s not as sweet as I expected it to be and I should have no problem finishing the bomber.

This is officially my first winter beer of the 2011 – 2012 winter season. Although I hate cold New England winters, I LOVE dark winter beers. This Adoration very well might end up in my glass again…I would love to try it on tap.
