IBS. Irritable bowel syndrome. It sucks. I have it. I don’t talk about it much on the blog, but it’s a part of every single day for me. Some days are good days, and some days are bad days. Today was one of the bad days; I felt bad for the people that sit in nearby cubicles at work…
I’ve mostly learned how to craft my life around the disorder: I don’t eat before travel, I plan out frequent trips to “the facilities”, and I’m always armed with a handful of pills. Before I figured out how to deal with it life REALLY sucked. Suffice it to say I have dropped olde #2 on the side of more than one highway.
Don’t feel bad for giggling.
Silver lining time. #1: Besides this one thing, I have excellent health. Things could be MUCH worse. And #2: Beer doesn’t appear to impact the IBS whatsoever. And with that, it’s time to crack a beer!!!
Atlantic Coal Porter is in my glass. I believe this is my first time trying something from this Maine-based brewery. This beer is pretty damn tasty. It’s one of those super drinkable porters. It’s well balanced with some caramel (almost vanilla) sweetness which is followed up by mild roasted coffee and chocolate flavors.
It feels like 4% ABV, but actually clocks in at 6.5%! Makes no difference. *CHUG CHUG CHUG* This bad boy is gone in record time. A must-try beer for anyone who likes an easy drinking porter!
