Tomorrow night we have friends coming over for a little party. It’s not just any party though…it’s a fort party. Remember when you were a kid and you took couch cushions, blankets, and kitchen chairs and built a fort? Well, we’re going to build a giant fort in my livingroom, hang out, and have some drinks. When people ask why I don’t want kids I tell them “I’m not done being a kid”…as evidenced by my plans for tomorrow evening.
Don’t worry…pictures will be posted to the blog.
In other exciting news, I’m taking Friday off and thus tomorrow is virtual Friday for me. Hellz. Yes. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Tonight I’m throwing back a bottle of Boulevard Dark Truth Stout.
It has an interesting aroma. At first I though I was smelling chocolate. This quickly turned into a dark fruit (plum) aroma. In the taste department I’m getting more of the same. There is a deep roasted malt flavor that appears at first, slowly fading to dark fruit, and finishing with an ever-so-faint smokiness.
You wouldn’t think this mix of flavors would work, but it totally does. Each of the flavors are strong enough to pick up, but none are overpowering. In particular, the smokey finish is REALLY well done.
At 9.7% ABV, this imperial stout will c.r.e.e.p. up on you. It’s full-flavored, but in no way seems this boozy. Another good beer from Boulevard!
