I don’t have anything exciting to share tonight, which means one thing – It’s TMI time. Over the winter I was having a terrible time with my IBS; my stomach was upset on a daily basis. For the last month or so I’ve felt great…up until today.
While taking a shower after work I got “the grumble” and immediately knew there was trouble brewing. I made it through the shower and through dinner before things got ugly. Three words: Green. Explosive. Ugh.
Now that TMI time is over, it’s time for tonight’s beer – Kona Koko Brown Ale. And yes, I’m having a beer despite how miserable my gut feels. Screw it!
The Koko Brown is a brown ale with toasted coconut added. And can you believe it? It tastes like….(drum roll please)….a brown ale with coconut added. The flavor begins with a long smooth caramel maltiness. Just when you think that there won’t be any coconut, it pretty much just explodes with flavor in your mouth. I’m pleasantly surprised at how much coconut I can taste. The downside? Brown ales aren’t my favorite. This beer gets an “OK” from me.
