Man, Mondays are really long when you have work and then class. I will say this though, a week ago today my Monday was absolutely miserable, making today seem like cake.
I’m home now and ready to review a beer!
When I picked up this Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye I missed the fact that it was an IPA. No worries though, I’m kinda on an IPA kick anyway, so let’s roll!
The Ruthless pours a burnt orange color. Not a lot of head on the pour, but some serious lacing on the glass. The brew sports an ample 6.6% ABV.
In the taste department, this is a typical American IPA (citrusy grapefruit hops), but with the twist of rye flavors added in. I always have trouble describing the flavor of rye. The bottle states that the rye adds a peppery quality. I’m frankly not getting any pepper.
Although it packs plenty of “the bitter”, I wouldn’t call it a face-melter by any stretch. Casual or newbie IPA fans shouldn’t be afeared of this one. I’m definitely going to enjoy finishing this one off!
