Victory Headwaters

Yesterday I mentioned that today I would finally let the cat out of the bag with respect to my “other” project. I lied. As I previously alluded to, the news is that I’m being published in print for the first time. Making the announcement is pending actually having the publication in-hand and knowing it is generally available! As soon as I have received it, I’ll bring everyone into the fold. Very exciting for me.

Today was a typical Monday: work all day, class all night, come home and drink a beer. Victory Headwaters Pale Ale seems like a good day-ender. This brew is an American pale ale. Here’s the “reader’s digest” version of the review:

What I hoped for: A well balanced pale – lots of citrus/flower hops with a malty backbone and sweet finish. A great beer.
What I got: Lots of hops. Flowery bitter start, citrusy bitter finish. Mistakable for an IPA. A good beer.

Generally speaking, I think American Pales should have a noticeable sweetness to accompany any hop action. The Headwaters were just a bit too far on the hoppy side for me.
