I hope everyone had a great weekend. The weather here in New England was FANTASTIC. July weather in May. We had a busy weekend with a wedding, a baby shower, and a baptism party. I also go out the golf clubs and hit the range…talk about rusty!!!
Tonight’s beverage is a seasonal offering from Magic Hat. They sent this and the fantastic Elder Betty a few weeks back. The Pistil is brewed with an ingredient I have never seen in a beer – dandelion! Fun fact: Growing up on a farm in Vermont, I’ve actually eaten cooked dandelion greens (not my favorite).
The beer has a very little aroma. It also has very little head. From the look of it, it appears to be uber-bubbly. As far as flavor, you can barely pick up the dandelion. Some citrus/wheaty flavors are actually the main characters. I know from imperviously eating this weed that it gives you a bit of dry mouth. While lacking in dandelion flavor, the Pistil brings it in the dryness department.
Magic Hat Pistil is frankly a strange entry into the “herbed” beer category; it doesn’t taste herbed at all. It is, however, a light and refreshing brew for the summer…
