Flying Fish Exit 4 American Trippel

Flying Fish Exit 4 American Trippel

This is a continuation of yesterday’s post about my Saturday evening drinking fest.

Later in the evening on Saturday I moved on to this Exit 4 from Flying Fish Brewery, a Belgian Trippel. I picked up a distinct hoppiness in this brew. At the time, I thought it was all in my head (i.e. I had too much to drink already). Upon checking out other reviews of this beer, I found a handful of people claiming they too smelled and tasted citrus hops! This was an interesting twist for a trippel, and I appreciated the uniqueness.

It also added the traditional spicy flavors you would expect with a Belgian. It was relatively sweet and tasted a lot like honey. An interesting mix of flavors in this beer.

At 9.5%, the Exit 4 will put you on your ass. I found this out first-hand. 🙂
