The weather in New England continues to be FAN-TAB-ULOUS! We haven’t seen anything but sun for days. Today and into the weekend, it will be in the 90’s.
This evening I took a 3 mile run and got my ASS kicked by the heat. Only a mile in I already had cramps and a sore back. I got it done though, and I’m back home now enjoying my reward: Kanc Country Maple Porter from Woodstock Inn Brewery up in New Hampshire.
I was a bit worried popping open a maple porter on a hot summer day…I mean, it just doesn’t feel like a summer beer. At 5.6% ABV, I figured it might be worth a shot. Afterall, porters can be light and refreshing.
And MAN, am I glad I decided to drink this. I love this brew. It pours with a fantastic head and has a sweet smell to it. Down in flavorville, there are magical things going on. This beer has more maple flavor than I’ve ever tasted in a beer. Most times I can’t even taste the maple in beer, but here it’s obvious. Drinking it, it starts with a light roasted malt flavor and quickly turns to a super smooth, delicate maple sweet finish.
I’m going to quit writing so I can go cuddle with this beer while I finish it.
