Jack’s Abby Ginger and Juice

Jack's Abby Ginger & Juice

Is everyone ready for the weekend? I know I am! It’s going to be an interesting one. Tonight we’re off to Worcester to start celebrating my wife’s birthday week. Tomorrow, we take a LONG day trip to Vermont for my grandmother’s memorial service. Finally, on Sunday, my wife gets her tattoo; she will be getting a clover inked on her foot.

Speaking of tattoos, I finally figured out what I want mine to be. See above. This is just a mock-up that I did. I expect the hop cones to have better definition and the barley to be colored in with a tan/brown. Whatcha think?

Before we kick off to Worcester, I’m reviewing this Jack’s Abby Ginger and Juice. I had this brew for the first time a few weeks ago at Jack’s Abby birthday party.

This is a style of beer (called Export Lager) that I’ve never had before. It pours a bright golden orange hue. Decent head, no lacing on the glass. Not a ton of aroma. The label calls the beer a “Wickedly Hopped and Spiced IPL”, and it’s not kidding. Spice and bitterness up the whazoo! Floral and citrus hops dominate. Frankly, I only pick up a twinge on ginger. I’m not a huge fan of ginger, so for me it’s all good. Others who pick up the beer expecting a ton of ginger might be disappointed.

Overall, this is another delicious beer from Jack’s Abby. Once again, I would warn craft beer newbies that this one packs a punch!

Everyone have a great weekend!

  1. This summer I’m pretty obsessed with Shined Ruby Redbird- a grapefruit and ginger beer. Seriously odd and refreshing! I’ll have to keep my eye out for this one and compare. Love the tattoo -love the blog!

Nice to hear from you. Hope all is well with you. Shiner is a Texas brewery and I’ve had a small amount of their beer. Unfortunately they don’t distribute to New England….yet.
