Once in awhile I crack open a beer to find it has gone horribly bad. Unless I have kept a beer in storage far too long, I tend to blame bad bottling or perhaps bad handling at the store. When I cracked open this bottle of McNeill’s Tartan Ale, it wasn’t long before I realized the beer had gone bad.
The beer, a Scottish ale, is supposed to be malty with a fresh toast kinda flavor. Instead I got a boozy, kinda nasty dark fruit flavor…like rotten plums or something. I took a few sips and poured it out. I learned long ago not to plow through a beer that tastes way off!
