This weekend flew by FAR too fast! Saturday was spent at the local casino, celebrating my 34th birthday. I played a lot of video poker (a game I intensively study) and some craps (I game I enjoy losing money at). We had lunch at a Mexican joint and I had a $40 flight of tequila that was mind-blowing. Needless to say, I had a great time on Saturday.
Today (Sunday) was completely consumed by work; I helped my wife run an Ecolissa booth at a local festival. She did VERY well, with record sales. I’m becoming quite the salesman, if I do say so myself…
Back home, we’re both spent and relaxing during the last few hours of the weekend. I’m throwing back a bomber of 10.5% ABV Once Upon a Time 1832 XXXX Mile Ale, brewed by Pretty Things. Given the ABV, this is one of those moments that I desperately wish I had a friend to share the beer with.
The 1832 XXXX is an interesting brew. I’d orange and cloudy, with an unassuming light appearance. Don’t be fooled – this is a beast. In the taste department it brings a world of complexity: tangerine citrus, earthiness, alcohol, and heavy grain flavors.
It’s an incredibly unique and interesting beer, but to reiterate, I don’t recommend trying to bury this bottle yourself; I’m about 1/4 the way in and already a little tipsy. Happy Sunday!!
