Sadly, tonight’s review is the last of the set that I did with friends Michelle and Kelsey this past weekend. The final beer we had was a big & bold one: 21st Amendment Lower De Boom.
The brew is a 11.5% ABV monster American Barleywine. It comes in the smallest little 8.4-ounce can (what my wife would call “cute” and “wittle”). Lower De Boom is a thoroughly complex concoction. It is heavily malted, but not syrupy. It brings to the palette deep malty, sweet, dark fruit (fig) flavors. Michelle said it tasted like “bark”, which I actually thought was a fair assessment…delicious, delicious bark.
All three of us liked the beer.
A couple of weekends ago my wife and I visited Maple Farm Sanctuary in Mendon, MA. The farm rescues animals from a variety of sources including local farms and slaughter houses. For my birthday I asked Melissa to adopt me a goat, and that’s exactly what she did. The adoption is virtual; every month we donate money to Maple Farm where Putt Putt lives and he gets treated like a king!
Below are some of the pictures from our trip to the Sanctuary. If you live in New England, I highly recommend visiting them for a tour.
