Sometime earlier this month Lost in the Beer Aisle crossed the 1000 review mark. I was so preoccupied with other shit that I completely missed the milestone! It’s a huge accomplishment which the site could not have reached without the help of countless people including many guest reviewers over the years, close friends such as Sean/Kerry and Greg/Heather who co-reviewed dozens of beers with me, and the support of my awesome wife who keeps me motivated.
An extra special thanks has to go out to our very own Silvio, lead contributor and author of over 150 LIBA beer reviews! Thanks for your loyalty and support bud.
Tonight’s review come from this past weekend. If you’ve been tuning in all week you know that friends Kelsey and Michelle helped me review a slew of brews on Friday.
The 6.5% ABV Jack’s Abby Hurts Like Helles Maibock Lager beer was the third beer we tried. I had promised them that this would be one of the better beers we would try, and Jack’s Abby came through for me. The flavors were right in line with what I would expect for a maibock: sweet, malty, and a little grain mixed with some earthy hops.
All three of us really liked it. Kelsey, who is currently in the Air Force stationed in Germany, said it reminded him of beer from Germany. Michelle said “This truly tastes like beer.” Well said Michelle, well said.
