Russian River Temptation

Today we spent the afternoon with friends Adam and Elina. It had been far too long since we hung out. Adam graciously shared his bottle of Russian River Temptation with me, which will serve as tonight’s review.

This American Wild Ale is yet another home run from Russian River. The beer is brewed as a blonde ale and then aged in chardonnay barrels. A strain of yeast known for adding sour qualities is added at one point. The result is a fantasticly tart, citrusy, lemon flavor. Although one of the more sour beers I’ve had, it came across as completely drinkable…almost shandy tasting, although using the word “shandy” seems cruel in the context of a beer this great.

Highly recommended. Grab one of these if you get the opportunity.
