One of the beverages my mom spoiled me with was this B. Nektar Evil Genius hop-infused mead. While mead isn’t something I regularly review here, I surely wasn’t going to turn down an IPA-style honey-drink!!
If B. Nektar sounds familiar, it might be because I reviewed their Zombie Killer some time ago, which was fantastic!
The Evil Genius pours an incredibly light hue, virtually translucent with every effervescent bubble appearing in vivid high-definition.
The color of the beer and the 6% ABV is deceiving; rather than light and summery, initially all I taste is super-sweet (and thick) honey. After a few sips, the hops start to become apparent. In the end, I’m mostly let down by the Evil Genius. I had hoped that the hops would be more intense, or at least more than a faint hint. Not a fan.
