Climax Hysterical Hefeweizen

Climax Hysterical Hefeweizen

Tonight I took a quick 3 mile run after work. This time out it was a little extra special; half way through the run I passed a major milestone: 400 total miles logged. When I started running 1 year and 10 months ago, I had no idea I would stick with it for this long, nor did I ever imagine I would rack up this kind of distance. As I approach the two year mark, I couldn’t imagine ever quitting running. That said, here’s to the next 400!

I’m celebrating with a Climax Hysterical Hefeweizen. This is beer #2 from the lot my mom recently brought me. This is my first beer from Climax Brewing. First off, let me just say that this is one “unique” beer label. I’m not sure if I should be scared or impressed by this laughing dude.

The brew poured with a monster head, which was pretty, but would not go away. Get off my plane, foam…get off my plane!

For flavors, I initially get lots of banana and clove…not surprising for a hefe. As I get into the beer, I find that there is a serious tartness. The almost sour character catches me completely off guard and I’m not sure if I like it.

Bottom line: Interesting label. Interesting flavors. Maybe too interesting?
