Tonight I am cracking open the newest IPA from 3 Beards Brewing Company which is called Cow Puncher IPA. With a name like Cow Puncher, this beer had better be good! I believe 3 Beards brews out of Opa Opa’s brewery which is in the western part of Massachusetts. The only other beer from 3 Beards that I have had was their black lager which I found very enjoyable.
On to the beer. The Cow Puncher pours a hazy orange color that reminds me of orange marmalade. It has a thin white head that dissipates pretty quickly. The Cow Puncher has a rather delicate nose with some hoppiness and a hint of orange blossom and none of the manure that I half expected from the name. This IPA has a medium body with moderate hops and bitterness through the profile. I get very little malt flavor and a little hop chewiness. The finish is on the shorter side with good dryness. This would be a great beer to drink after mowing the lawn, but at 7.9% abv might get you in trouble quickly. All in all, I liked this beer and I could see myself buying it again. It isn’t overly complex, but offers a solid flavor profile.
