Last week I realized I had FAR too much beer on hand. The stock looked a little something like this:
- A case of Yuengling lager.
- A 12 pack of Wachusett Light IPA
- A 12 pack of Wachusett Green Monsta IPA
- A growler of Gardner Ale House Summers End
- Countless singles (review beer)
So I put out a call to my Facebook friends: “come drink my beer”. You would think a stampede would ensue, however the only taker I got was my buddy Norm. With a nickname like The Real Beer Nut, it wasn’t any surprise that he was game.
We drank a lot of beer, mixing in a couple of review beers along the way. Tonight I’m recapping our thoughts on the Grateful Hands Common Sense Black IPA.
We both found it to be strong on the malt side, with little “IPA” to it. It brought a ton of coffee roasted character to the table, but not much more in terms of flavor. It was creamy and smooth. Both Norm and I thought it was a solid beer, but nothing fantastic. Norm said “it’s a 3 out of 5” due to the fact that it lacked the balanced hop character we were looking for.
