Newburyport Green Head IPA

Newburyport Green Head IPA

I hope everyone had a great weekend celebrating the 4th of July. I had a couple of extra days off so I took the time to write up a review for Lost. Today’s brew is Green Head IPA from Newburyport Brewing Co. Located on the North Shore of Massachusetts, Newburyport Brewing Company is a small can only brewery. My coworker gave me this six pack since Newburyport’s area of distribution is still pretty small.

The Green Head pours with a crazy large white head that hung around for a good 5 minutes. I will have to be more careful when I pour the next one. Lots of hops on the nose and I get a hint of what I think is mango. The color is a hazy dark orange and the head leaves a heavy lacing on the glass. The first sip is very smooth with bitterness all the way through. I get a little bit of orange flavor and more maltiness near the end. The Green Head has a very soft mouth feel and a long finish. This is a great example of a West Coast style IPA. I am really enjoying this beer and at 7.2% abv, the alcohol is well hidden. Fun fact: a guitar pick is included with every six pack of Newburyport’s beer. If the Green Head is typical of the rest of Newburyport’s beers then I am going to have to seek them out.
