Last night my wife and I ran in our first ever 10k race. Although in the end, I had a great time (48:24), all throughout the race I was cursing myself for signing up for the event. At mile two I got a side cramp which lasted for two miles. As soon as the cramp disappeared, I managed to pull/tweak my T-band, which runs down the side of the hip/leg. During the last mile of the race I was sure I was going to vomit, fall, pass out, or some combination of the three. That all said, this probably won’t be my last 10k.
Tonight’s beer is Banner’s American Summer, a blonde ale. As a preamble, I want to mention that I absolutely love what Banner is doing with session beer and I fell in love immediately earlier this year with Banner’s inaugural brew, American Ale. With that confession on the table, let’s get to the review.
The American Summer is packed full of flavor, but not alcohol. At 3.7% ABV, you could drink this stuff for hours. The primary flavor is lemon, with a crisp floral hop finish. Note that the bottle claims more of an herbal hop flavor, but I’m getting floral. Despite my love affair with Banner, this puppy is just a bit too lemony for me.
P.S. Note that the beer is 3.7% ABV, and 96.3% foamy head!
