Last week I received my regular shipment of Magic Hat beer in the mail. The package included Deveiled, a variety pack exclusive, and Seance, a fall seasonal. According to the info-packet, I was supposed to also get the Fall IPA on tour selection, however it was not in the box.
Sadly, when opening the box, the bottle of deVEILed fell out onto the kitchen floor. WAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Tonight I decided to crack open the bottle of Seance and give it a go.
- First impression: the bottle art is pretty slick.
- Second impression: color of the beer is STRANGE for a saison.
- Third impression: flavor profile is STRANGE for a saison. It’s more like a brown ale. Caramel malts with a hint of nuts fades into a clove flavor. The aftertaste is the only thing resembling a saison.
- Fourth impression: REALLY drinkable at 4.4%. Super light body despite the color. The contents of this 12-ounce bottle disappeared in record time!
Pretty unique and tasty. Worth checking out if you get a chance to.
