Idle Hands Epoch

Idle Hands Epoch

Just recently we started watching the series Orange is the new Black. This Netflix original series is about a women’s prison. Think Oz, except a lot more funny and a hell of a lot less violent/demented. After only a couple of episodes both my wife and I loved it. We highly recommend you check it out.

After a productive Monday a work, I’m sitting down and watching more episodes of the show, pairing it with a bottle of Idle Hands Epoch. I picked up this bottle back in mid-summer during our trip to the Hands nano-Brewery.

Epoch is a Belgian strong dark ale and is aged in rum barrels. I’m a huge fan of rum and since beer aged in rum barrels is hard to come by, I had to buy a bottle of this. The beer has a slight oaked rum aroma, but sadly I get none of that in the taste. Belgian spices take over with lots of dark fruit, raisin and clove in the mix.

It’s not a bad beer by any stretch, however I am disappointed by the lack of rum & oak.
